Course Description

This course is designed for dental professionals and provides evidence-based strategies to effectively diagnose and treat periodontal disease through non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT). You’ll learn how to identify, treat, and stabilize periodontitis using a structured assessment and treatment planning approach.

A key component of the course includes a comprehensive, hands-on review of advanced instrumentation to prevent burnishing and efficiently remove calculus. Topics include dental anatomy, ultrasonic tips, and specialty instruments designed for safe and effective calculus removal.

Presenter: Dr. Silky Sharma RDH, Ed.D

Dr. Silky Sharma, RDH, Ed.D is an Associate Professor at Harper College, Palatine, Illinois, and has been a faculty member since 2010. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Illinois with a focus on Evidence-Based Decision Making. Dr. Sharma earned her Doctorate from Grand Canyon University in Education, in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Adult Learning.
