SUMMARY:Why You Should Be Doing Alveolar Ridge Preservation Grafting
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, December 10\n7:00-8:00 PM EDT\n1 CE*\nAre you providing the proper ridge preservation procedures? \nLearn about bone loss physiology\, ARP techniques\, essential instruments\, and the use of barrier membranes to improve outcomes for patients and practices. \nCourse Objectives\n\nUnderstand why alveolar ridge resorption occurs after tooth extraction.\nBecome aware of the necessary techniques for predictable and successful alveolar ridge preservation grafting.\nUnderstand how using the right instruments and supplies will help you perform alveolar ridge preservation grafting with less stress and better results.\nAppreciate how an extraction socket should be prepared prior to graft placement\nWitness the benefits of ARP for your patients and practice\n\nCourse Overview\nA fixed 3-unit bridge is no longer the procedure of choice for replacing a recently extracted tooth. A single crown attached to an osseointegrated dental implant has been the standard of care for this treatment for over 20 years. Alveolar ridge resorption is known to occur after tooth removal due to loss of functional stress on the bone. If a dental implant is planned to be placed 3 – 6 months after the extraction\, the ridge atrophy may be significant enough to result in insufficient alveolar volume\, requiring additional augmentation before the implant can be placed. Alveolar ridge preservation grafting (ARPG) is a proven technique to minimize the amount of bone loss in the months following an extraction. In this webinar\, we will discuss the physiology of bone loss after extraction\, and the evidence that ridge preservation grafting can prevent about 85% of it. We will also talk about the reasons ARPG is beneficial to both the patient and the dental practice\, as well as how the technique is done and what instruments and supplies facilitate obtaining a good outcome from grafting. \nTo RSVP\, please visit here\nSpeaker: Dr. Jay B. Reznick\, DMD\, MD\nDr. Reznick is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his undergraduate Biology degree from CAL-Berkeley\, Dental degree from Tufts University\, and his M.D. degree from the University of Southern California. He did his internship in General Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at L.A. County- USC Medical Center. \nDr. Reznick was one of the first North American adopters of fully-guided\, prosthetically based implant surgery and was the first specialist in the U.S. to integrate CBCT and CAD/CAM in his practice. He has taught dentists about basic and advanced implant dentistry\, surgery\, and 3D digital technology for the last 2 decades. Dr. Reznick has published extensively in the dental and medical literature. He lectures frequently at dental meetings and educational conferences\, as well as giving live training courses to dentists from all over the world. \nDr. Reznick is one of the Founders of the website OnlineOralSurgery.com\, which educates practicing dentists in basic and advanced oral surgery techniques. Dr. Reznick is also a consultant to a number of manufacturers and suppliers of dental and surgical instruments and equipment\, and is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of a number of dental journals. He is the Director of the Southern California Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in Tarzana\, California. He can be reached at jay@onlineoralsurgery.com \nTo RSVP\, please visit here\n*Advanced Implant Education\nNationally approved PACE Program Provider for FAGD/MAGD credit.
