Are you providing the proper ridge preservation procedures?

Learn about bone loss physiology, ARP techniques, essential instruments, and the use of barrier membranes to improve outcomes for patients and practices.

Course Objectives

  • Understand why alveolar ridge resorption occurs after tooth extraction.
  • Become aware of the necessary techniques for predictable and successful alveolar ridge preservation grafting.
  • Understand how using the right instruments and supplies will help you perform alveolar ridge preservation grafting with less stress and better results.
  • Appreciate how an extraction socket should be prepared prior to graft placement
  • Witness the benefits of ARP for your patients and practice

Course Overview

A fixed 3-unit bridge is no longer the procedure of choice for replacing a recently extracted tooth. A single crown attached to an osseointegrated dental implant has been the standard of care for this treatment for over 20 years. Alveolar ridge resorption is known to occur after tooth removal due to loss of functional stress on the bone. If a dental implant is planned to be placed 3 – 6 months after the extraction, the ridge atrophy may be significant enough to result in insufficient alveolar volume, requiring additional augmentation before the implant can be placed. Alveolar ridge preservation grafting (ARPG) is a proven technique to minimize the amount of bone loss in the months following an extraction. In this webinar, we will discuss the physiology of bone loss after extraction, and the evidence that ridge preservation grafting can prevent about 85% of it. We will also talk about the reasons ARPG is beneficial to both the patient and the dental practice, as well as how the technique is done and what instruments and supplies facilitate obtaining a good outcome from grafting.
