About the Webinar
This interactive continuing education program focuses on the appropriate prescribing of analgesics, with a specific emphasis on dentistry. Through real-world case studies and a problem-based learning approach, participants will gain practical strategies for managing dental pain while reducing reliance on opioid medications.
Attendees will be introduced to updated pain management guidelines and newly approved non-opioid medications designed to support dental teams and improve patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Discuss the pathophysiology of pain as it relates to dentistry
- Recognize the most recent guidelines for managing postoperative dental pain in pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients
- Understand an effective analgesic approach to help keep patients comfortable after dental procedures
- Identify new FDA-approved, non-opioid analgesics that can help reduce dependence on narcotic pain medications
About the Speaker: Mark Donaldson, BSP, ACPR, PharmD, FASHP, FACHE
Dr. Mark Donaldson is the Associate Principal of Clinical Pharmacy for Vizient’s Advisory Solutions and resides in Whitefish, Montana. He is a Clinical Professor at the University of Montana, Clinical Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Sciences University, and affiliate faculty in Dentistry at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Donaldson serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Dental Association and is the 2016 recipient of the Academy of General Dentistry’s Dr. Thaddeus Weclew Award. He lectures internationally on dental pharmacology and therapeutics and is widely recognized as a leader in the field.
